Creative Inspiration: Terry Border's Amazing "Bent Objects"

Terry Border's  Bent Objects have been around the net for quite a few years now, and you've likely seen a few of the more famous ones already in your travels online (the McDonald's French Fry creature is a popular one). But I bet you didn't realize what a HUGE collection he has compiled over the past 5 years. Here are some of my favorites...

Here's a video presentation he did a couple years ago on the topic:

I highly encourage you to bookmark his blog (bentobjects.blogspot.com) for whenever you need a source of creative inspiration or just something to make you smile...

Sedikit Tentang "Torture" Puisi Wislawa Szymborska

Berikut puisinya:

Torture by Wislawa Szymborska

Nothing has changed.
The body is susceptible to pain,
it must eat and breathe air and sleep,
it has thin skin and blood right underneath,
an adequate stock of teeth and nails,
its bones are breakable, its joints are stretchable.
In tortures all this is taken into account.

Nothing has changed.
The body shudders as it shuddered
before the founding of Rome and after,
in the twentieth century before and after Christ.
Tortures are as they were, it's just the earth that's grown smaller,
and whatever happens seems right on the other side of the wall.

Nothing has changed. It's just that there are more people,
besides the old offenses new ones have appeared,
real, imaginary, temporary, and none,
but the howl with which the body responds to them,
was, is and ever will be a howl of innocence
according to the time-honored scale and tonality.

Nothing has changed. Maybe just the manners, ceremonies, dances.
Yet the movement of the hands in protecting the head is the same.
The body writhes, jerks and tries to pull away,
its legs give out, it falls, the knees fly up,
it turns blue, swells, salivates and bleeds.

Nothing has changed. Except for the course of boundaries,
the line of forests, coasts, deserts and glaciers.
Amid these landscapes traipses the soul,
disappears, comes back, draws nearer, moves away,
alien to itself, elusive, at times certain, at others uncertain of its own existence,
while the body is and is and is
and has no place of its own.

Ke-aku-an manusia, mulai dilihat dari tubuhnya.
Bait terakhir "while the body is and is and is"; "and has no place of its own." menunjukkan usaha dan kondisi yang membuat eksisten itu dinamis. Singkatnya yang ingin dikatakan puisi ini tentang tubuh adalah soal eksistensi: perubahan yang tidak pernah berubah.

20' x 50' Stop Motion Hand Painted billboard

As a former sign guy who used to hang out with lots of old-school sign painters (true artists), I really appreciate this...

Shot high above the streets of New York City, UP THERE is a documentary film that takes an inside look on the dying craft of large-scale hand painted advertising and the untold story of the painters at Colossal Media who are fighting to keep the artform alive.

Trailer:

Full length film:

Directed by Malcolm Murray, based on an original concept by Mother as a promo for Stella Artois beer demonstarting the ritual of the perfect pour.

Really cool interactive Banner ad

A very innovative concept for Gol Airlines in Brazil...

The banner ad challenged users to imagine what it might be like to fly with their cell phones. They would then submit their mobile number into the ad and seconds later they got a call with flight instructions while the webpage turned into into a live flying game controlled by their phone.

As users fly over the webpage, strategically placed "deals" appear in your line of sight. The ad ends with a reminder that traveling is easier when you check-in via your mobile phone. Brilliant!
